Can you match to a Pantone color value?
If you’d like to provide your own color values, you are welcome to do so. Just incorporate the Pantone colors in your order notes located in the Upload Artwork step on our ordering app! Even if your artwork has defined spot colors incorporated into it, if you want us to match to a particular color you must specify the Pantone value in the order notes.
Clockwise uses the Pantone Solid Coated and Solid Uncoated guides for color selection. Unfortunately, we cannot match to Pantone values from the Fabric/Upholstery guides, the CMYK guides or the metallic and pastel guides.
Please note that valid Pantone values follow the format of 1-4 digits PLUS a C or a U at the end (e.g. 704U)
- If the value you are trying to match to has a prefix or a hyphen, it is from another Pantone guide that we do not use and so we cannot match directly to it.
- The value you provide must have a C or a U at the end. This lets us know whether to use the coated or uncoated guide for matching and the incorrect letter can drastically affect the resulting color.
Water-based and Discharge inks can interact unpredictably with certain fabric contents and garment colors, due to dye lots and how the inks chemically react with the fabric of the shirts. For the best color accuracy across all the products of your order, we strongly recommend the use of Standard (plastisol) inks.
We cannot match the following to a Pantone color value:
- Garment colors vary by dye lot, year, manufacturer, etc. so we cannot make a good match.
- Digital prints are not perfectly consistent or repeatable by nature and many factors impact the color of the resulting print.
- Embroidery threads come in specific colors. Although we will match as best we can to the approved mock up, we cannot match to specific values.
*Please note that Clockwise matches to the physical Pantone booklets using special lights and color-corrected monitors. If you are not choosing your color using Pantone booklets, color-corrected monitors and the proper lighting for accuracy, the colors of the final print may appear different than your expectations.
